What is Tallow?
Tallow is an animal fat primarily derived from beef fat and is used as a raw material in various industrial applications. The INCI name of this product is also Tallow. It mainly consists of triglycerides of fatty acids such as stearic acid, palmitic acid, and oleic acid. Due to this composition, tallow serves as a versatile base material for the production of soaps, fatty acids, esters, and other oleochemical derivatives

How is Tallow made?
Tallow is produced by melting and purifying animal fat, during which solid residues and impurities are removed. This refining process results in a stable and homogeneous fat suitable for further processing. Depending on the intended application, the product can be additionally fractionated or refined to obtain specific functional properties
The function of Tallow
Due to its composition of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, tallow is particularly suitable as a raw material for saponification and further chemical conversion. In soap formulations, it contributes to a firm structure and stable foam formation. In addition, it serves as an important base for the production of fatty acids and fatty alcohols, which are subsequently used in detergents, cleaning agents, and other technical applications.
