How is helianthus annuus seed oil made?
The production of Helianthus annuus seed oil begins with the selection and cleaning of sunflower seeds. These seeds are then crushed and subjected to a pressing process to extract the crude oil. The crude sunflower oil still contains various impurities, such as waxes, free fatty acids, and pigments. To remove these impurities, the oil undergoes a refining process that consists of three main parts: neutralization, bleaching, and deodorization. During neutralization, free fatty acids are neutralized and removed. Bleaching removes dyes and impurities, and deodorization, where the oil is heated under vacuum, removes unwanted odors and flavors. The end result is a clear, odorless oil that is suitable for a wide range of applications.
