What is palmoil refined?
Palm oil refined, also known as elaeis guineensis oil, is a vegetable oil that is extracted from the fruit of the oil palm, the elaeis guineensis. This oil is one of the most widely used vegetable oils in the world, partly due to its versatility. After the refining process, palm oil is often used in a wide range of products, such as cosmetics and industrial applications. The refining process ensures that impurities are removed and the oil gets a neutral taste and odor, making it extremely suitable for various applications.

How is elaeis guineensis oil made?
Palm oil production begins with the harvesting of the oil palm fruit. These fruits are then steamed to extract the oil. The crude palm oil that is extracted still contains a number of impurities such as free fatty acids, pigments and odours. In order to make the oil suitable for consumption or further industrial processing, it undergoes a refining process.
During refining, impurities are removed by a combination of physical and chemical processes. This includes decolourisation, deodorisation and the removal of phospholipids and free fatty acids. The result is a pure, neutral oil that is stable and has a long shelf life. This refined oil is safe for use in food, cosmetics and other products.
The function of palmoil refined
Refined palm oil has a number of unique properties that make it highly sought after in various industries. Refined palm oil is rich in saturated fats, which gives it a firm texture at room temperature. This makes it an excellent ingredient for bakery products, margarine and spreads.
It is also a versatile base for the production of cosmetic products, where it is valued for its moisturizing and skin-softening properties.
Elaeis guineensis oil in various industries
Refined palm oil is used in many industries, including the technical industry and the cosmetics industry.
In the technical industry, refined palm oil is widely used in the production of biodiesel, where it serves as a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. It is also used as a lubricant and in the production of various chemicals and bioplastics, thanks to its stability and versatility.
In the cosmetics industry, refined palm oil is valued for its emollient and moisturizing properties. It is used as a base for creams, lotions, and soaps, and its chemical stability, together with the presence of natural antioxidants, also makes it a valuable addition to various cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.
