What is ESTO?
ESTO is a non-ionic emulsifier with the INCI name Polysorbate 85. It is designed to effectively mix oil and water phases into stable emulsions. Due to its versatility, ESTO is widely used in cosmetics, pharmaceutical formulations and industrial applications where stability and distribution of lipophilic substances are essential.

How is Polysorbate 85 made?
Polysorbate 85 is obtained by the ethoxylation of sorbitan trioleate. During this process, hydrophilic polyethylene glycol groups are linked to the lipophilic sorbitan-oleic acid complex. This gives ESTO both oil and water soluble properties, making it ideal for stabilizing O/W emulsions and dissolving sparingly soluble substances.

ESTO acts as an emulsifier, solvent and stabilizer. It prevents phase separation in emulsions and contributes to a uniform texture. ESTO supports the absorption and performance of active ingredients in both cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications. It is gentle on the skin and suitable for use in sensitive formulations.
