How is Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate produced?
Ester PR 91 is produced through an esterification reaction in which propylene glycol is combined with caprylic acid (C8) and capric acid (C10), both medium-chain fatty acids of plant origin. The result is a stable, hydrophobic ester complex with light viscosity and a neutral odor. Thanks to its good oxidative stability, it is suitable for applications requiring long shelf life.
Function of Ester PR 91
Ester PR 91 functions as an emollient, skin softener, solvent, and skin conditioning agent. It provides a light, silky skin feel without leaving a greasy film.
