EL 11

What is EL 11?
EL 11 is a polyethylene glycol derivative of castor oil with the INCI name PEG-11 Castor Oil. It is a non-ionic emulsifier and solubilizer with excellent dissolving and dispersing properties. Due to its relatively low degree of ethoxylation, EL 11 is particularly well-suited for applications requiring mild surface activity.

How is PEG-11 Castor Oil produced?
PEG-11 Castor Oil is obtained by ethoxylating natural castor oil with approximately 11 moles of ethylene oxide. This process results in a hydrophilic, water-soluble oil that emulsifies well with both water and oil components. The final product is clear, stable, and highly versatile for use in a wide range of formulations.
Function of EL 11
EL 11 acts as an emulsifier, solubilizer, and dispersing agent. It promotes the blending of water and oil phases in emulsions and helps dissolve lipophilic ingredients in aqueous systems. Its low viscosity and good skin compatibility also make it suitable for personal care and industrial applications.
