How is Glycol Stearate produced?
Glycol Stearate is produced by the esterification of ethylene glycol with stearic acid. This reaction yields a solid, waxy substance that is easy to incorporate into the heated phase of personal care formulations. Thanks to its emulsifying and opacifying properties, it is a versatile raw material in cosmetic formulations.
Function of EGMS
EGMS acts as an opacifier and imparts a characteristic milky or pearlescent appearance to products. It enhances viscosity, improves emulsion stability, and provides a soft skin feel. In addition, it offers mild emulsifying capabilities, contributing to a homogeneous final product.
